In its 65 years as presenters of quality classical performances in the valley, Palm Springs Concerts has always included an outstanding pianist in its schedule. On Sunday afternoon, February 25, 2024, PS Concerts presents Nathan Carterette, a virtuoso whom critics have called the “poet of the piano.”

Nathan has distinguished himself in the concert world by performing a huge range of works from the Elizabethan period to the music written today. His innovative approach invites audiences to approach unfamiliar music with open ears, and familiar music with new appreciation.

He has appeared as soloist in a variety of venues, such as in Munich and Hamburg in Germany, and Cleveland, Pittsburg, and New York City in the United States. Educated at Yale and the University of Missouri, Nathan began his piano studies at the age of 11 with Cleveland’s legendary Birute and Anthony Smetona.

A chance encounter with Welsh composer-pianist Dafydd Llywelyn led to an invitation for private tutoring in Munich, where Nathan studied and performed for three years in the early 2000s.

A Carterette concert features story-telling styled narration, giving the listener new appreciation for familiar music, and excitement for the new works he presents.

The February 25th appearance is the fourth concert offered by Palm Springs Concerts this year.
